The 18th annual* Hollywood Drum Show has announced an exciting all-star lineup of clinicians and performers on October 13, 10 AM–7 PM at the Glendale Civic Auditorium in Southern California. Kerry Crutchfield, the founder and promoter of the event says, “We’ve had a positive outpouring of support from exhibitors and friends this year and I anticipate one of the biggest shows we’ve ever held.” [Look for DRUM! Superstar Clinic Lineup
This year the show is rolling out the red carpet for some of drumming’s biggest legends. There will be clinics and special group performances every other hour during the daylong festival. Special guests include Dave Weckl Trio, Stephen Perkins, Jimmy Ford and Randy Caputo in a drum battle special event, and a special trio performance with Jeff Hamilton.
For more than 35 years, Dave Weckl has developed and maintained a reputation among fans, peers, and the international music community as one of the great living drummers. He has excelled in the worlds of pop and jazz, which is no easy feat. In the ‘80s he toured with Simon & Garfunkel and played hit sessions with George Benson, Peabo Bryson, Diana Ross, and others. Later he spent nine productive years with Chick Corea playing in both his Akoustic and Electrik bands and earning a Grammy. He has also released nine albums as a leader. Weckl’s commitment to excellence and his dynamic and diverse drumming have inspired drummers worldwide. He will be performing with his trio featuring Steve Weingart and Ben Sheperd.

Jeff Hamilton at Newport Beach Jazz in 2014.
Jeff Hamilton is known as one of the most original and proficient jazz stylists of the modern era. His resume includes stints with greats such as Oscar Peterson and Ray Brown, and co-leading the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. His trio recordings have won acclaim worldwide. Hamilton was also a co-founder of Crescent Cymbals and his cymbal technique will change your thinking about what is possible behind a drum kit.
Jimmy Ford and Randy Caputo are outstanding drummers who have developed a re-enactment of the classic Gene Krupa vs. Buddy Rich drum battles of the 1950s and 1960s. This will be a big band chopfest not to be missed.

*18 Annual Shows in 22 Years
The term 18th annual above carries an asterisk. This is actually the 22nd year of the show. Kerry Crutchfield, the creator of the event had a couple of years during which he could not find a suitable venue. He also postponed shows for medical reasons. Today, with all his bionic parts, he’s ready to wail on the drums and put on a great show.

How To Win A Grover Pro Tambourine or Snare Wires

Comment below to win this Grover Studio Pro Tambourine.

Grover Club Combo snare wires
Grover Pro originally made only concert tambourines. But once country and pop artists started tearing the head off and using them for recording, they knew what they had to do. Their Studio Pro model features the same construction as their professional concert tambourines with German silver and phosphor bronze jingles, and a rubber edge to protect hands or shells. It’s great for studio or stage. Just sign up for our newsletter or leave a comment below to be entered to win.
Three additional winners will receive Grover snare wires in Club Dark, Club Bright, or Combo styles. These handmade wires offer contact across the head for greater projection, sensitivity, and fatness of sound.
