In 1993, Guns N’ Roses was on tour to support its albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. The final show tour took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a crowd of 80,000 people. The tour was one of the longest in rock history, taking more than two years to complete and consisting of 194 shows in 27 countries.
A highlight of their final night was when English drummer Cozy Powell, dressed as a Domino’s pizza delivery man, waltzed up onstage, did a little dance with Axl Rose, and began playing bongos with Matt Sorum on “Used To Love Her.”
Powell drummed with dozens of artists in his day, including Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, The Jeff Beck Group, Rainbow, Gary Moore, Robert Plant, Brian May, and Emerson, Lake & Powell. He died in 1998, at the age of 50.
That night in Argentina, Rose also jammed very briefly on the drums, during “Patience/Imagine.”
And watch drummer Matt Sorum’s solo after Rose introduces the band members. Sorum replaced GNR drummer Steven Adler.
