(Above) Terry Bozzio will teach at Drummer’s Reality Camp, if can find a way out of his mega drum kit

Drummer’s Reality Camp: just like summer camp, minus the no-running-water-thing. Don Lombardi, founder of DW Drums and creator of DrumChannel.com, along with DRUM! Magazine and the Drum Department at Los Angeles Music Academy College Of Music, have put together a star-studded musical event for drummers, by drummers. The five-day workshop is from June 28–July 2, and will feature lessons, masterclasses, special performances, and autograph sessions with some of the most respected names from the drumming world, as well as a day-long tour of the DW and DrumChannel facilities. Guest artists Alex Acuña, Peter Erskine, and JR Robinson (with others to be announced) join artists-in-residence Ralph Humphrey, Terry Bozzio, Efrain Toro, and Joe Porcaro to guide participants through a very special week of intense instruction.

The minimum age requirement is 14 years old and participants need to have at least a year of drumming instruction. All drummers must bring a practice pad with stand and sticks, and drum sets will be provided for all scheduled drum set instruction. Drummers can also bring cymbals and pedals for after-hours practice in the school’s drum labs. Regular tuition for The Drummer’s Reality Camp is $1,495, but for those who take advantage of early registration before May 15, 2010, the cost is only $995.
