Guitar Center’s 28th Annual Drum-Off Finals will take place on Saturday, January 14, at 7:00 P.M. at The Novo in Downtown Los Angeles, California.
The granddaddy of all drumming contests has been turning up undiscovered talent for nearly three decades, including names like Cora Coleman-Dunham, Tony Royster, Jr., and Eric Moore (Suicidal Tendencies), among others.
This year’s event is hosted by Gregg Bissonette (Ringo Starr, David Lee Roth) and will showcase the top five undiscovered drummers in the country, chosen in contests at dozens of Guitar Center local and regional events. And, in keeping with Drum-Off tradition, it will also be a night of big names and big performances, featuring a collaborative musical performance with Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy) and Rashid Williams (John Legend), plus an exclusive performance by the legendary Sheila E. featuring Pete Escovedo with a unique blend of Latin, jazz, and pop.
In addition, Guitar Center will be paying tribute to the original funky drummers behind many of James Brown’s most celebrated grooves, John “Jabo” Starks and Clyde Stubblefield, with an induction into Guitar Center’s RockWalk in Hollywood.
