For 2017, Tama is expanding on the popularity of its compact Cocktail-JAM kit with the new Cocktail-JAM Mini. Similar to the original Cocktail-JAM, the new CJP44 is a slightly smaller version of its predecessor, featuring drums that are sized 2″ smaller in diameter.
It produces an even smaller footprint, and the entire kit (with hardware) fits into the two bags, which are included. By adding Tama’s compact clamps (sold separately), drummers can add cymbals, hi-hat, and cowbells to the Cocktail-JAM Mini for greater versatility.
Cocktail-JAM Mini kits include 8-ply, 7.5mm poplar shells, 1.6mm triple flange hoops, a bass drum pedal, single-tom attachment hardware (x2), and a new bass drum mute for achieving a punchier sound.
The Cocktail-JAM Mini CJP44 ($666.65 MSRP) comprises a 14″ x 6″ bass drum; 10″ x 5″ snare drum; 5″ x 8″ mounted tom; and 12″ x 5.5″ floor tom. It is available in Candy Apple Mist (CPM) and Hairline Blue (HLB) finishes and features 8-ply, 7.5mm poplar shells and comes with a single bass drum pedal, two single-tom attachments, 1.6mm triple-flanged hoops, low-mass lugs, a Sound Focus Pad, drum bag, and hardware bag.
Tama says that its original Cocktail-JAM kits — designed for situations in which limited space is available, as well as for musical contexts that call for a tight drum-set sound (including jazz and hip-hop) — will see a few upgrades this year as well.
The Cocktail-JAM CJB46 ($916.65 MSRP) offers 6-ply, 6mm all-birch shells, and comprises a 16″ x 6″ bass drum; 12″ x 5″ snare drum; 10″ x 5″ mounted tom; and 14″ x 5.” floor tom, and is available in three finishes: Bright Orange Sparkle (BOS), Indigo Sparkle (ISP), and Midnight Gold Sparkle (MGD). This kit comes with a single bass drum pedal, two single-tom attachments, Sound Arc hoops, low-mass lugs, a Sound Focus Pad, drum bag, and hardware bag.
