Nick Mason, born on January 27, 1944, is the drummer and a founding member of Pink Floyd. Featured on all of the band’s studio albums, Mason has been a constant in Pink Floyd’s various lineups since its creation in 1965. And, as of last year, he also started his own touring band, Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets, which plays some of Pink Floyd’s early tunes predating Dark Side Of The Moon.
Mason’s otherworldly, dynamic style has a gentle-fierce energy, particularly in live performances. Celebrate the soft-spoken drummer with some of his and Pink Floyd’s greatest songs.
Mason co-wrote some of Pink Floyd’s most popular songs, including “Echoes” and “Time.” This version from 2009 includes a compilation of three live shows, “David Gilmour Live in Gdansk” (2006), “Roger Waters live in Mexico” (2016), and “Pink Floyd Pulse” (1994).
“Wish You Were Here”
If Wikipedia is to be believed, for live performances of this song, Mason tuned a transistor radio onstage to a local radio station, segueing into the pre-recorded part from the album.
