Seven years after parting ways with Dream Theater, Mike Portnoy is going back on the road with one of his former bandmates. The iconic prog-metal drummer’s new project, Sons Of Apollo, announced today that it will embark on a world tour beginning in February 2018. The band includes former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian,  Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses), Billy Sheehan (The Winery Dogs, Mr. Big, David Lee Roth) and Jeff Scott Soto (ex-Journey, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force).

“Ever since this lineup assembled to make Psychotic Symphony,” says Portnoy, referring to the band’s debut album released in October, “the thing I’ve been most excited about is anticipating how insane I know this band is going to be on stage.”

Psychotic Symphony was produced by the dynamic production duo of Portnoy and Sherinian, affectionately known as “The Del Fuvio Brothers,” a nickname given to them over 20 years ago during their time together in Dream Theater. The album debuted at the No. 10 spot on Billboard’s Rock Chart.
