SJC Hires New General Manager

Music industry veteran John Shand has joined SJC Custom Drums as general manager. He will oversee all operational, financial, sales and marketing activities for the company with the goal of positioning SJC for sustained growth, according to the company.

Shand was formerly the international managing director for KMC Music Inc. “I am extremely excited to join SJC’s team of passionate and dedicated employees and to help this tremendous brand develop into a strong, stable company serving musicians worldwide,” he said in a statement.

GetGood Drums Modern & Massive drum sample library

GetGood Drums, the software company helmed by prog heavyweights Matt Halpern and Misha Mansoor of Periphery, has released its second drum sample library, called Modern & Massive.

A full two years in the making, Modern & Massive’s library offers more than 29 drums, 10 cymbals and hundreds of articulations. The virtual library also boasts a completely overhauled user interface and new features like a built-in reverb, midi-groove player, as well as a preset function dubbed “turbo” that delivers mix-ready sounds with one turn of the knob. GetGood Drums’ debut sample library, the Matt Halpern Signature Pack, was released in 2016.

 

Rhythm Tech Releases Bass-Heavy Cajon

Rhythm Tech has released a redesigned cajon (model RT5751EB-U, MSRP $212.95) featuring an enhanced bass port that delivers an enhanced bass response.

The cajon was designed to improve the entire playing and listening experience with a high-quality build that includes finely crafted edges for added comfort while playing, but the action is in the newly enhanced bass port that pumps out thumping low end. The internal V snare wire provides controllable treble balance, and the playing surface and side panels are designed to create a wide range of creative tones for players in all genres.

 

Gretsch Reintroduces Drum Hardware

Gretsch Drums is reintroducing drum hardware to its catalog. The newly introduced G3 and G5 series include straight and boom cymbal stands, hi-hat and bass drum pedals, and snare stands.
