Latin Percussion (LP) and the DW Music Foundation (DWMF) have partnered with the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) to expand the annual CalArts World Music and Dance Festival. For more than 30 years, CalArts has hosted this free family event on the campus of CalArts in Valencia, California.

Presented by The Herb Alpert School Of Music at CalArts, this year’s expanded festival is scheduled for April 27 through 29. Part of CalArts’ critically acclaimed Wild Beast Concert Series, concerts will take place outdoors at both The Wild Beast concert pavilion and on the LP Stage, allowing for 15 performances. There will also be a vendor village featuring instrument makers, food trucks, and more.

Featured musicians include percussionist and CalArts alumna Kassandra Kocoshis, CalArts faculty member Joey DeLeon, and Hands On’Semble headliner Randy Gloss (all of whom are LP artists) alongside Taiko, West African, Brazilian, and Afro-Cuban drummers, and more.

Over the weekend, more than 100 CalArts students will take part in the Festival, performing as well as running tech, crew, concessions, and more.

The first 100 people to arrive daily will receive a free, limited edition Chick-ita mini maraca from LP.
