#FUTUREBEAT is Yamaha’s groundbreaking national drumming competition in the UK for drummers 18 years of age and younger. The Grand Final takes place on Saturday, November 18.

The national drumming competition that launched last year attracted more than 150 entries. Showcasing 50 of the UK’s most talented young drummers at fiveregional finals, capacity audiences at Yamaha Drum Dealer partners were treated to stunning and passionate live performances in Cardiff, Birmingham, Nottingham, Glasgow, and London.

Five regional winners were each presented with a Yamaha Recording Custom Series snare drum and are now looking forward to the Grand Final at Yamaha’s UK Headquarters in Milton Keynes on Saturday. They are:

Iestyn Jones, age 16 (Cardiff Winner)

Sam Heeley, age 17 (Birmingham Winner)

Sam Cooper, age 15 (Nottingham Winner)

Daniel Gordon, age 16 (Glasgow Winner)

Sam Swift, age 16 (London Winner)

The five #FUTUREBEAT ’17 Grand Finalists will perform live with a professional band in front of a judging panel of world class Yamaha Drum Artists comprising Steve White (Paul Weller, The Who, Ian Dury, Jon Lord); Andrew Small (Kylie Minogue, Massive Attack, Moloko); and Mikey Sorbello (The Graveltones). Judges will be looking for groove, timing, technique, versatility, and expression and the overall winner will receive a Yamaha Tour Custom drum set.

In addition to the live performance all Grand Finalists will also receive a mentoring session on the day with each of the judges.
