Sabian exhibited its new XSR Series models at Summer NAMM 2017, and in this video, exclusively for Drum Magazine, Sabian’s Rick Murray goes into detail about this new line of B20 cast cymbals, and what is distinctive about them among Sabian’s other lines.
Following Sabian’s launch of its XSR cymbals in January 2016, the company has added three new models to the line: 17″ and 19″ XSR Fast Crashes, and a 22″ XSR Ride (prices TBA). These B20 cast cymbals incorporate many of the same processes as Sabian’s HHX Evolution and AAX X-Plosion cymbals.
Sabian hand-hammers its new 17″ and 19″ XSR Fast Crashes, which feature enhanced profiles. In addition, bells are shaped and designed to accelerate the overall sound for a quick, explosive response with penetrating definition and power.
The versatile 22″ XSR Ride offers a balance of stick definition and tonal wash, and a mid-sized bell that’s designed for music that requires solid grooves.
Sabian says that XSR is “not a budget series, but rather a line of smartly priced cymbals designed to better fit within the average drummer’s cymbal budget.”
