Sabian announces that Grammy Award–nominated drummer, singer, songwriter, rapper, and producer Anderson .Paak is now playing Sabian cymbals exclusively. .Paak released his 2016 album, Malibu, on the Steel Wool Entertainment label. He was nominated as Best New Artist and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Malibu. Currently, he is on an extensive tour of Europe with Bruno Mars, playing arenas and festivals through June.

His current set up includes 18″ AA Sick Hats, 19″ Artisan Crash, 12″ AAX O-Zone Splash over a 10″ AA Mini Holy China stack, 22″ HH Liquid Ride Brilliant or Artisan Light Ride, 20″ AAX Aero Crash and a 20″ HHX Evolution O-Zone Crash.

As a guest artist, he has worked with Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eminem, The Game, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, Schoolboy Q, DJ Premier, Solange, Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Mac Miller, Kaytranada, and Pharrell. He performed with A Tribe Called Quest at this year’s Grammys.

.Paak says, “I need my cymbals to sound like the war cry from a group of guerrilla soldiers and Sabian gets that done for me!”

“I have really enjoyed helping Anderson find his sound,” says Sabian Director of Artist Relations Chris Stankee. “We’re lucky enough to create cymbals for so many great drummers, but it’s a unique experience doing that for a front man who wrote the music, knowing [that] his attention is on every aspect of the sound in the mix and where the cymbal tones have to fit in. Where the cymbals reside right next to the vocal mic, there is no way to avoid bleed and so the darker, hot tones were his preference. We’re very happy to have Anderson as a SABIAN endorser and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him!”
