We kicked off this series with a somewhat random discussion of profile shots on social media sites like Twitter. So this time let’s get back to basics and focus on strategy and goals.
Here’s a thought experiment to get you started. Which of the following ways do you use social media for in your business as a musician today? And, which of these activities could be part of your strategy?
You can do any and all of these using Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, and others, but should you? For instance, a lot of tech companies use Twitter mainly as a platform for service, not marketing. You can jump on the service and talk to HP about getting your printer set up, for instance. Musicians often think literally when approaching social media, and just spray whatever news they have out through all channels. But ask yourself this question: Which of these kinds of communications is most important to me on the social channels that I use?
