If you were a drummer who happened to be in Nashville on November 5, it’s likely that you spent the better part of the day at Soundcheck Studios, where Sonor, Mapex, and NFUSD Audio hosted Drum Day Nashville.

The spacious rehearsal room was jammed with 200 drummers of all ages who tested a number of gleaming new kits, hardware, and snare drums, while checking out masterful clinics by Derico Watson (Victor Wooten Band), Russ Miller (American Idol), and Chris Coleman (Chaka Khan).

It seemed as if the only attendee who wasn’t knocked out by all the chops ricocheting off the stage was Watson’s young son, who somehow managed to fall asleep in the front row. Something tells us he’s heard his dad’s clinic more than once.

While the good folks from the legendary Nashville retailers Fork’s Drum closet offered special “show only” prices for Mapex and Sonor gear, a number of lucky attendees went home with cool door prizes, including Mapex Black Panther and Sonor snare drums, as well as hardware and pedals from both brands.
