Doc Sweeney Drums Unveils Snake Bite Kit, Rx Snare Drum, New Snare Throw-Off At Winter NAMM 2018

At Winter NAMM 2018, Steve Stecher, founder and owner of Doc Sweeney Drums in San Diego, shared with Drum Magazine his company’s new products on show for 2018. First up is Doc’s Snake Bite Kit, which is made of spalted sycamore and comprises a 24″ x 14″ bass drum; 16″ x 15″ floor tom; 13″ x 10″ mounted tom; and a 14″ x 7″ snare drum. He also showed us the new Rx snare drum; in the video you see a model made of bubinga wood with a suspended aluminum ring, which yields a ringing sound that bears woody overtones. Finally, Doc Sweeney introduces a newly developed snare throw-off made of aircraft aluminum and stainless steel.
